Moderate Salinity Stress Affects Expression of Main Sugar Metabolism and Transport Genes and Soluble Carbohydrate Content in Ripe Fig Fruits (Ficus carica L. cv. Dottato)

چکیده
Fig trees (Ficus carica L.) are commonly grown in the Mediterranean area, where salinity is an increasing problem coastal areas. Young, fruiting plants of cv. Dottato were subjected to moderate salt stress (100 mM NaCl added irrigation water) for 48 days before fruit sampling. To clarify effect stress, we investigated changes transcription main sugar metabolism-related genes involved synthesis, accumulation and transport soluble carbohydrates ripe fruits by quantitative real-time PCR as well content sugars 1H nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy. A general increase transcript levels was observed. Alkaline-neutral Acid Invertases transcripts, related synthesis glucose fructose, up-regulated NaCl-stressed without a change D-glucose D-fructose. The increases sucrose D-sorbitol contents likely result up-regulation Sucrose-Synthase- Sorbitol-Dehydrogenase-encoding genes.

Growth and Respiratory Response of Fig (Ficus carica L. cv. Mission) Fruits to Ethylene.
Growth in diameter of the fig (Ficus carica L. cv. Mission) fruit takes place in three distinct periods; two periods (I and III) of rapid growth are separated by a period (II) of slow growth. With respect to exposure to ethylene, the fruit exhibits a two phase response. Ethylene inhibits fruit growth in phase A (period I), the period of cell division, stimulates growth in early phase B (early p...
متن کاملAntioxidant activities and anthocyanin content of fresh fruits of common fig (Ficus carica L.).
Fig fruit has been a typical component in the health-promoting Mediterranean diet for millennia. To study the potential health-promoting constituents of fig fruits, six commercial fig varieties differing in color (black, red, yellow, and green) were analyzed for total polyphenols, total flavonoids, antioxidant capacity, and amount and profile of anthocyanins. Using reversed-phase liquid chromat...
متن کاملSalinity induces carbohydrate accumulation and sugar-regulated starch biosynthetic genes in tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L. cv. ‘Micro-Tom’) fruits in an ABA- and osmotic stress-independent manner
Salinity stress enhances sugar accumulation in tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) fruits. To elucidate the mechanisms underlying this phenomenon, the transport of carbohydrates into tomato fruits and the regulation of starch synthesis during fruit development in tomato plants cv. 'Micro-Tom' exposed to high levels of salinity stress were examined. Growth with 160 mM NaCl doubled starch accumulation ...

متن کاملThe Effects of Shaking Frequency and Amplitude on the Detachment of Estahban Dried Fig (Ficus carica cv. Sabz)
The aim of this study was to determine the most suitable shaking frequency and amplitude for shake harvesting Esfahan's edible fig (Ficus carica cv. Sabz). A hand held limb shaker with adjustable shaking frequency and amplitude was used for this study. A 3x3 factorial experiment with three levels of oscillating frequency (10, 12 and 14 Hz) and three levels of shaking amplitude (20, 32.5 and 45 ...
